Everything started back in year 1995, when as a teenager I had my first dog, a Romanian-bred Deutsch Kurzhaar. In the coming years, he made me love this breed more and more and become active in the dog world. After gaining some experience with Brus, in 2000 I had the chance of becoming the owner of Irbis vom Hege-Haus, a dog who made a shift in my life. With him I travelled a lot, learned more and the passion grew stronger. Slowly, other dogs joined the team and each of them had his role in the evolution and growth of the Kennel. Now, most of the dogs I owned are born in my kennel, but at times an imported dog joins us when I consider his addition would match and improve the offsping.
Karpaten Irbis kennel affix was registered in 2004, followed by Von Den Donau-Wirbeln in 2008. The kennel is based mostly on the famous German bloodline Hege-Haus and also Pöttmes, a line that proved to harmonize well with the Hege-Haus.

Breeding goals and ideas
Even if my dogs are born in Romania, i strive hard to make them breeding eligible according to the rules of the German Deutsch Kurzhaar Club (Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband). Therefore each potential breeding prospect is going through the German testing system - Derby, Solms/AZP, VGP, German Zuchtschau and mandatory health checks (hips, shoulders and elbows) performed by Dr. Wolfram Lemmer in Germany.
I was lucky to work with top German trainers who have handled succesfully my dogs through the German tests and comformation exams: Thomas Unholzer, Hans Schmid and the late Paul Seegers.
Besides the German tests required for breeding they must also perform well in conformation shows. I am trying my best to breed a beautiful and healthy hunting dog that can successfully be the everyday family member and friend.
